Saw an item about a boy in Mississippi that was with his mother at an appointment in a legal office when the urge to relieve himself hit. This office had no public restrooms, the boy’s mother was a client, does that not change your status? At any rate he could not be allowed to use the restroom so he went outside and tried to hide behind his mothers car and take care of business. Unfortunately he was seen by a Police Officer that arrested him and he was taken to court and put on probation for urinating in public. If you have not guessed it yet, the boy is black. Jim Crow lives.

Viewed a podcast about investing in AI. The basic story is that if you do not invest you will miss out and if you miss out then you will become one of the millions that will be on welfare. The reason, of course, is that AI is going to take over all the tasks that the rest of us have been making a living doing and we will all be out of work.
Great idea for the owners of businesses to project that they can put robots in to do the work, make the products, drive the trucks and all that and that the robots will require no breaks, medical insurance, vacation time, etc etc etc. The part of the equation I fail to understand is who is going to buy these products if we are all on welfare and only getting enough to survive? Maybe the people that are going to get rich from this will become benevolent and disperse some of their wealth to the rest of society so that we can at least enjoy all our leisure time, a little anyway.
It may be a bit far fetched but AI will have a purpose when we begin leaving this planet to colonize other planets in other systems. That will be the job of the AI’s to send forward as much as possible to help mankind get established in our new homes and they will be expendable to remain on earth no matter how bad things get until the end. That is counting on a great many things going in very specific directions but the idea is at least a useful purpose for robots that need very little or no human intervention.
The idea that AI can supplant humans and we are all going to become redundant and there is still a fortune to be made in this environment leaves some very large holes in the thought process. AI assistance I can understand but full on replacement seems unrealistic. Hopefully one of the uses for this technology will not be to wage war but I am guessing waging war will be one of the first uses.
All this machine takeover will provide lots of time for mankind to do what? Will we have the ability and intelligence to spend that time getting educated for our next leap forward or will we be so poverty stricken that we spend our time doing as we do today, waging war to claim others riches, blaming others for our misfortunes and shortfalls, and taking our frustrations out on any and all that are not strong enough to defend themselves, like children.
This advancement of technology is going to cause a great deal of discomfort among those that do not have the presents to realize that all the problems of the world are not answered in a book that was written 2000 years ago and that has not addressed any issue dealing with mechanized society.
