https://www.cbsnews.com/news/naacp-travel-advisory-florida-says-state-hostile-to-black-americans/
Remember the good old days when there were only travel advisories and or ban for, what some would call, third word countries? Well now because of the vile vitriol of one Governor Ron DeSantis the state of Florida, a vacation destination, has received a travel advisory by the NAACP.
The wannabe future President has made the climate so venomous in Florida the anyone who is a part of any minority group does not feel safe in the state. Black, Brown, LGTBQ+, these are all groups that are under attack in the Sunshine State. The majority Republican legislature and their fearful leader has passed laws that make almost everything a jailable offence and the fact that the state has very loose gun laws and a stand your ground law makes it more dangerous than being a blonde female in central America.
Florida residents are able to carry concealed guns without a permit under a bill signed into law by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis. The law, which goes into effect on July 1, means that anyone who can legally own a gun in Florida can carry a concealed gun in public without any training or background check. This with their ridiculous stand your ground law, ‘Florida’s “Stand-Your-Ground” law was passed in 2005. The law allows those who feel a reasonable threat of death or bodily injury to “meet force with force” rather than retreat. Similar “Castle Doctrine” laws assert that a person does not need to retreat if their home is attacked.’ Makes it really sketchy to go there.
This in top of the don’t say gay rule and the new trans ruling that just passed.
“Florida lawmakers have no shame. This discriminatory bill is extraordinarily desperate and extreme in a year full of extreme, discriminatory legislation. It is a cruel effort to stigmatize, marginalize and erase the LGBTQ+ community, particularly transgender youth. Let me be clear: gender-affirming care saves lives. Every mainstream American medical and mental health organization – representing millions of providers in the United States – call for age-appropriate, gender-affirming care for transgender and non-binary people.
“These politicians have no place inserting themselves in conversations between doctors, parents, and transgender youth about gender-affirming care. And at the same time that Florida lawmakers crow about protecting parental rights they make an extra-constitutional attempt to strip parents of – you guessed it! – their parental rights. The Human Rights Campaign strongly condemns this bill and will continue to fight for LGBTQ+ youth and their families who deserve better from their elected leaders.”
This law makes it possible for anyone to just accuse someone of gender affirming care to have their child taken from them this would include someone traveling from out of state. This alone justifies a travel ban to the Magic Kingdom for families.
Oh, and I haven’t even mentioned DeSantis holy war with Disney, the largest employer in the state. I really hope the Mouse eats this ass holes lunch.
Well that’s enough bitching, thanks again for suffering though my rant.

Not Deserving of a Purple Heart
Lyle Northey (Silent/Boomer)

As we move forward from this incident of the shooting and all the accusations about how it was brought about by the democrats and their negative remarks about Trump, keep in mind that this has given him a new tune to play in the game of being a victim. The actions, attitudes and speeches that caused this incident are very much his own words coming back to bite him. He is using the photo of him bleeding to make money for his campaign(?) or his pocket.
He has refused to contact the widow of the man that died at that rally, no doubt offering prayers instead. It would mean something if he in fact had a faith other than self. The convention was much more important than any death unless the death had been his. If his son or wife paid the price for being on that stage he would have milked that cow for all it was worth.
If all the press he is getting puts him in the lead or worse gets him reelected we will have to blame ourselves for being total idiots. This election has to be viewed as a selfish act, not one of denying votes to Biden because you don’t like some of his policies, Trump doesn;t have any so that idea is out the window. It is about where you want to go in this life and in this country.
Do you believe in Global Warming, or Reproductive Health, or taking care of Aged People, or adequate education for all children. If any of those or a hundred other issues are on your radar then you have to view this election as a journey and the candidates as busses. Which bus will get you closer to your goal? Keep in mind that the other bus will never get there as it is going the wrong way and is subject to diversions at any time.
Democracy and the rule of law was the course set by our founders. They had some bumps in the road as well but the majority of the country never gave in to the temptation of having one class rule. After the invention of the Cotton Gin and the Civil War the south was making efforts to allow only the rich and landed to be the voice of all. They were eventually stopped in that pursuit but today we have the ultra rich once again believing that they know best for all of us and if they don’t the religious right does. This is a dangerous view because that path will destroy our democracy and our nation and leave us open to the exploitation of nations that seek power over all else. -
Drunk History

Humans invented alcohol before we invented the wheel.
The wheel is credited as one of humankind’s most important inventions: It allowed people to travel farther on land than ever before, irrigate crops, and spin fibers, among other key benefits. Today, we often consider the wheel to be the ultimate civilization game-changer, but it turns out that creating the multipurpose apparatus wasn’t really on humanity’s immediate to-do list. Our ancient ancestors worked on other ideas first: boats, musical instruments, glue, and even alcohol. The oldest evidence of booze comes from China, where archaeologists have unearthed 9,000-year-old pottery coated with beer residue; in contrast, early wheels didn’t appear until around 3500 BCE (about three millennia later), in what is now Iraq. But even when humans began using wheels, they had a different application — rudimentary versions were commonly used as potter’s wheels, a necessity for mass-producing vessels that could store batches of brew (among other things).
Some researchers believe our long-standing relationship with alcohol began 10 million years ago thanks to a genetic mutation that allowed our bipedal ancestors to consume overly ripe fruit. Alcohol consumption eventually transitioned from a snack-time byproduct to a purposefully crafted, fermented beverage, and different cultures began to create their own brews independently. After China’s beer and wine appeared around 7000 BCE, early vintners in the Caucasus Mountains followed 1,000 years later. Sumerian brewers crafted beer around 3000 BCE, while Indigenous communities in the Americas, such as the Aztecs and Incas, later made their own alcoholic drinks from agave and corn. It may seem surprising that ancient humans were so fermentation-focused, but early alcohols played a major role in prehistoric communities: Booze was often the center of religious and social celebrations, and could serve as a go-to cure for illness and pain. In some cases, it even acted as a nutritious, probiotic boost during times of food scarcity. With their many uses, both lifesaving and life-enhancing, brewed beverages have withstood the test of time.

Why in 3s?
Dwain Northey (Gen X)

With the deaths this past weekend of Dr. Ruth, Richard Simmons, and Shannon Doherty, it got me thinking about a long held notion that celebrities all seem to die in groups of 3… strange coincidence.
It’s one of the oldest superstitions in pop culture. The notion that movie stars and celebs always give up the ghost in groups of three. And it does happen from time to time. After all, the Big Bopper, Richie Valens, and Buddy Holly all died in one 24-hour period in 1959. As superstitious as is sound the circumstance seems to repeat itself.
Early June 2018 was a rough one. To start, on June 5, designer Kate Spade died at 55 by suicide. She was found in her New York City apartment and left a suicide note. Then, on June 8, it was announced Anthony Bourdain died at 61, also by suicide. He was found unresponsive by his friend in a French hotel.A few days later, on June 10, The Goldbergsactor Jackson Odell died at the age of 20.
A few months after David Bowie’s death rocked us, 2016 started to seem like the worst year for celebrity deaths yet.
On April 17, 2016, we were saddened to hear that Doris Roberts, the lovably annoying mom on Everybody Loves Raymond, died in her sleep at age 90.
Just a few days later on April 20, ex-WWE wrestler Chyna died at age 46 of an accidental drug overdose after taking sleeping pills.
And one day later on April 21, fans everywhere were heartbroken to learn that Prince had met a similar fate — the music legend’s shocking death at age 57 was ruled an accidental overdose.
A stand-up comedian and actor widely known for his role in the Seinfeld series finale, John Pinette died on April 5, 2014. Pinette’s personal doctor signed off on the 50-year-old’s cause of death as pulmonary embolism.
The following day, legend of the silver screen (and notorious ladies’ man) Mickey Rooney died in his sleep from natural causes at the age of 93.
On April 7, news of 25-year-old English journalist and television personality Peaches Geldof dismayed family, friends and fans, who found her death sudden and inexplicable. Sadly, a subsequent inquest into her death revealed that heroin likely played a large part in it.
I realize that it’s a fact of life that people die and I also know that as superstitious animals we always look for patterns, I just find it odd that this is a coincidental pattern that we find so fascinating.

EGO vs WE GO
Lyle Northey (Silent/Boomer)

Was the shooting an attempt to kill Trump or more of a last effort of a very reportedly bullied and isolated individual to make a statement of impact to not be forgotten as a no one? Either way it was a violent act that was unnecessary and a cause for yet more division of our nation. The calls for violence by one candidate are of constant concern for those of us that do not wish to be in a society that solves all its problems by beating or killing. A man I knew used to say that the way to solve a problem was to kill it but in truth that method always seems to create more problems than it solves.
The media has up till now been a very big supporter of the advocates of violence and that has the potential to lead to a government that is going to control everything. Has the media decided to throw away the ability to cover the news as a free press? The same question needs to be asked of all that would choose to vote for this party as the loss of freedoms as individuals will affect life as we know it. If you are dependent on any sort of public program, social security or worse welfare the chances are that what support you get now will diminish or disappear.
We have already seen the current Supreme Court claim power over most federal agencies, not for the President but for themselves. They have overturned laws that protect women and despite the claim they are doing the right thing, they are removing protection for children as well. One state has rolled back child labor laws. The mandate that says the child must be born even if it kills the mother leaves a number of questions to be answered. If that woman happens to have other children and her death leaves 2 or more children to raise and the father does not make enough to work and pay for care. I addressed that issue in an earlier post but it is an issue worth readdressing.
Education is another big issue as the party that advocates violence has been banning and burning books. Teachers find themselves in the direct line to be fired if they even mention some concept about creation or whatever that is not allowed by the censors.
As more and more rights and freedoms get stripped away the populace will find that they have no voice to protest. We currently have a very weak voice in our Congress as the party of violence currently dominates most issues and is more interested in trivial efforts to blame others for their inability to legislate.
This election is all about ego and one man desperately trying to put himself in a position to not go to jail for the crimes he has been convicted of and to once again line his pockets with as much as he can steal from the rest of us as possible. He is a convicted felon, 34 times over, he has been convicted of rape, he has been proven to cheat on his taxes, he has been proven to cheat on his spouse, and he has hero’s that are the worst of the worst in leaders of nations that are all repressed. Why does anyone want to follow or elect this type of leader is beyond reason. They do not like the opposition or they have decided to follow scripture and “Not cast their seed upon the rocks but into the belly of a whore”. -

Real Trouble
Lyle Northey (Silent/Boomer)

A man running for governor of a state is making statements about the need to kill people. The state that he is attempting to run needs to put a distress flag atop the capitol building. While we are at it we need to do the same for the house of congress and the Supreme Court as all are in distress with the efforts being put forth to cover for, clear and reelect Trump.
The nation has been in distress since 2015 and he entered the campaign for President. It will be in distress as long as his influence or mouth can be heard. His message is that hate is the answer and it is okay to hate everyone that looks, acts or thinks differently than he does or his followers do. He is the Pied Piper leading the herd out of town, or the lead lemming leading the charge off the cliff, either way the direction of travel is destruction and death to democracy.
No matter which way you look there is some individual with some information or theory about how Biden is going to cause this calamity or that economic failure and how he is just falling apart mentally. There are not pundits making statements about Trump and how wondrous he is and what he plans to do etc. Reason for the lack on the T trail is that there are no plans, no platform other than “I intend to be a DICKtator and rob the country blind”.
The Deep State is running the government and Biden is taking a nap. The list is never ending about how age and mental state is a crumbling wall in Joe’s case and yet totally losing your mind, calling people out, threatening vengeance and all that is not an issue with Don. The media with few exceptions are on board with running Biden down and helping keep the focus away from the combover crook.
When the election is over and Trump has lost again are we going to have the blood shed that is going to come from the left because we are supposed to roll over and play dead so the 75 year old baby does wet or shit his diaper? As stated by a GOP hopeful there are people that need to die, it is just that he is requesting the wrong people be the final solution victims. It has been said that to solve a problem you should start at home, take it for what it s worth. So at least one person died in Pennsylvania yesterday when Trump was shot . The violence he has been calling for was visited on him and his followers. This was not what the call for violence intended because it is only the people that are not Trump converts that are to have violence happen to them.
Will this make a change in what we see and hear from the mouth? He is not used to being on the receiving end of brutality. He sics the dog on others but does not have it turn on him. The shooter was a republican voter so all the attempts to pin this on Biden are false. The reaction by the Biden administration and most of the country is that we condemn this sort of thing no matter who the target. Different from the hammer attack reaction. This should tell you what the morals of organizations like the Heritage Foundation are when they comment about blood shed. -
Rewriting History
Lyle Northey (Silent/Boomer)

The recent decision by the, you should pardon the expression, Supreme Court, proves that the members of the court and the political party behind them and the general population that thinks this is great are not concerned for the future of their offspring or the nation. It all will be tossed down the toilet if DJT makes it back into power.
The Heritage Foundation, another misnamed organization, has a manifesto that is 900 plus pages long. This is the blueprint for how they intend to increase their worth and devalue all that oppose them. It is troubling to know that there are people who are sleeper agents for the destruction of our nation living among us. Most people have been fearful of aliens from space and they really should have been concerned with assholes from organizations professing to be loyal Americans.
These oh so righteous and good, true patriotic people are the ones that sit in the front pew at church and tell all how we must behave. They are also the ones that cheat on the taxes and probably on their spouses. Anything and everything is permitted if it puts an extra dollar in their pocket even if it was illegal as long as they can get away with it.
History is littered with the remains of those that have risen to great heights only to have fallen to even deeper depths. Will the plan succeed here? We cannot be sure at this moment but hopefully the majority will see this affront to our Constitution and freedom and vote to follow the path envisioned by our founders.
With that hopeful result it may be possible to finally get justice for the crimes committed as a result of the 2020 lie campaign and that the people currently in Congress that advocated such acts are appropriately punished as well as those that stormed the Capital. This should also include the establishment of term limits on all positions and the publishing of a code of ethics for all servicing in government.
The military has policies that dictate how people should act and there is punishment dealt to those that violate those policies. Military members take an oath to the Constitution as do all that are brought to service and the violation of that oath should not be ignored at any level of government.
If our way of life is so terrible and your ego says that you know how to do it better I encourage you, one and all, to go find a place to put your plan into action, but not here this belongs to those of us that have earned our nation by protecting it and being true to it, Thank You. -

President that could take a joke .

Photo credit: Fotosearch/ Archive Photos via Getty Images Lincoln Was Known to Respond to Insults With Jokes
Abraham Lincoln stood out, visually. He was the tallest president, at 6 feet, 4 inches (at a time when the average American male was 2 inches shorter than today), and he had the largest feet of any president, at a size 14. Consequently, Lincoln’s political opponents frequently took absurd shots at his appearance. In 1860, The Houston Telegraph wrote that he had “the leanest, lankiest, most ungainly mass of legs, arms, and hatchet face ever strung upon a single frame.” The Southern Confederacy similarly published a poem stating that “his nose was as long and as ugly and big / as the snout of a half-starved Illinois pig.” Lincoln took it all with characteristic good humor and was not above the occasional self-deprecating joke. He once recounted a story in which someone called him a “self-made man,” to which he replied, “Well, all I’ve got to say is that it was a damned bad job.” And when Illinois Senator Stephen Douglas called him “two-faced” in a debate, Lincoln famously replied, “If I had another face, do you think I’d wear this one?”

Aussie , Aussie , Aussie
Australia used to be called New Holland.
WORLD HISTORY

In 1606, toward the end of Europe’s age of exploration, Dutch explorer Willem Janszoon landed on the western side of Australia’s Cape York Peninsula, believing he was on the shores of New Guinea, which is separated from mainland Australia by the Torres Strait. He mapped 186 miles of coastline before departing later that year. Other Dutch navigators followed suit, charting the northern, western, and southern coasts of the landmass. Despite the fact that the Dutch never never colonized Australia, by the late 17th century the continent was known as New Holland (Nieuw-Holland in Dutch) — but the name didn’t last.
In 1768, British explorer James Cook made the first of his three voyages to Australia. Two years later, he claimed the eastern half for Britain and renamed it New South Wales. A secret goal of Cook’s first voyage was to discover what was listed on ancient maps as Terra Australis Incognita (Latin for Unknown South Land), a hypothetical vast landmass that the Greek philosophers theorized must exist in the Southern Hemisphere to counterbalance Asia. By the end of Captain Cook’s third voyage, he had seen portions of Antarctica and mapped enough of New Zealand (also named by Dutch explorers) to disprove that Australia was part of the fabled Terra Australis; rather, a separate southern continent was located in the icy polar region.
In 1803, British navigator Matthew Flinders became the first person to circumnavigate the coast of Australia, charting unknown parts of the coastline and proving that Australia is a single continent. In his journals and maps of the expedition, he harkened back to Terra Australis when naming the continent, but shortened it to Australia. This time, the name stuck. As Flinders wrote in A Voyage to Terra Australis (1814), the new, abridged moniker was “more agreeable to the ear.”
