7 years ago I walked away from depending on someone else for a pay check, I have been a 1099 independent contractor ever since and couldn’t be happier. I use technology and my enjoyment of driving to earn a living that for me does not have the stress of dealing with a corporate schedule or arguing with really smart/stupid people. In reality I have made more money doing this with less hours, less stress and drama than anything I did for ‘work’ since I was 18 years old, wish I would have taken to risk to work for myself sooner.
