Dwain Northey (Gen X)

Isn’t it interesting that Mike Johnson and his Republican colleagues are suddenly clutching their pearls over Zelenskyy targeting Russian data centers and bot farms, calling it election interference?
Election interference? From Russia? Surely not. Who could have imagined that the country infamous for meddling in American elections might have a few digital operations worth shutting down?
Here’s the thing: if these facilities are simply harmless technology infrastructure, why the outrage? Why are American politicians so concerned about Ukraine disrupting Russia’s ability to manipulate information and influence public opinion?
I’m not saying their reaction proves anything. But it certainly raises an eyebrow. You’d think a party supposedly obsessed with election integrity would welcome the destruction of foreign operations designed to undermine it.
Unless, of course, the concern isn’t about election interference itself, but about who might benefit from it.
Funny how quickly protecting democracy becomes controversial when somebody starts dismantling the machinery that threatens it.
Sometimes, the loudest objections don’t prove guilt. They just make you wonder why someone is so desperate to defend the equipment.
