Dwain Northey (Gen X)
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/naacp-travel-advisory-florida-says-state-hostile-to-black-americans/
Remember the good old days when there were only travel advisories and or ban for, what some would call, third word countries? Well now because of the vile vitriol of one Governor Ron DeSantis the state of Florida, a vacation destination, has received a travel advisory by the NAACP.
The wannabe future President has made the climate so venomous in Florida the anyone who is a part of any minority group does not feel safe in the state. Black, Brown, LGTBQ+, these are all groups that are under attack in the Sunshine State. The majority Republican legislature and their fearful leader has passed laws that make almost everything a jailable offence and the fact that the state has very loose gun laws and a stand your ground law makes it more dangerous than being a blonde female in central America.
Florida residents are able to carry concealed guns without a permit under a bill signed into law by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis. The law, which goes into effect on July 1, means that anyone who can legally own a gun in Florida can carry a concealed gun in public without any training or background check. This with their ridiculous stand your ground law, ‘Florida’s “Stand-Your-Ground” law was passed in 2005. The law allows those who feel a reasonable threat of death or bodily injury to “meet force with force” rather than retreat. Similar “Castle Doctrine” laws assert that a person does not need to retreat if their home is attacked.’ Makes it really sketchy to go there.
This in top of the don’t say gay rule and the new trans ruling that just passed.
“Florida lawmakers have no shame. This discriminatory bill is extraordinarily desperate and extreme in a year full of extreme, discriminatory legislation. It is a cruel effort to stigmatize, marginalize and erase the LGBTQ+ community, particularly transgender youth. Let me be clear: gender-affirming care saves lives. Every mainstream American medical and mental health organization – representing millions of providers in the United States – call for age-appropriate, gender-affirming care for transgender and non-binary people.
“These politicians have no place inserting themselves in conversations between doctors, parents, and transgender youth about gender-affirming care. And at the same time that Florida lawmakers crow about protecting parental rights they make an extra-constitutional attempt to strip parents of – you guessed it! – their parental rights. The Human Rights Campaign strongly condemns this bill and will continue to fight for LGBTQ+ youth and their families who deserve better from their elected leaders.”
This law makes it possible for anyone to just accuse someone of gender affirming care to have their child taken from them this would include someone traveling from out of state. This alone justifies a travel ban to the Magic Kingdom for families.
Oh, and I haven’t even mentioned DeSantis holy war with Disney, the largest employer in the state. I really hope the Mouse eats this ass holes lunch.
Well that’s enough bitching, thanks again for suffering though my rant.

Flori-Death
Dwain Northey (Gen X)
I feel like I am banging my head against the wall complaining about guns. The article linked is reference the to Ron (Death Sentence) DeSantis quietly signing into Florida law a bill that actually makes it easier for conceal carry in his State.
This death merchant wants to be President and thinks that the glory days of the wild, wild west should be the marker of the 21st century. Ron is as delusional as the rest of the wanna-be gun slingers not recognizing that the old west while riddled with shoot out lore had gun laws. Most western towns banned guns in the city limits and usually, if not always in saloons.
Florida already has a ridiculous stand your ground law that gives anyone (we all know anyone means white person) the right to shoot first and ask questions later if they feel at all threatened. Ask Trayvon Martin how that law works, oh yeah you can’t because he didn’t live to see 18 because Andrew Zimmer felt threatened by Trayvon’s hoodie and shot him.
Stoneman Douglas High School in the Miami tragedy of February 14, 2018 may just be another normal day in Sunny Florida because now anyone can get a gun and conceal it. Yes there is still a waiting period if you buy from an authorized dealer but not from trade shows or online purchases. Trayvon Martins death will be followed by many more because the combination of Stand your ground and Conceal Carry can only end with more killing.
DeSantis has tried to take control of Disney in Orlando but the was outsmarted by the popular tourist destination. Will he try to make a private company allow concealed weapons in their parks. I am sure that his authoritarian nature would truly love to impose that rule on a private corporation but fortunately, at least for now, there are laws to prevent that.
As of Feb. 23, there have been seven mass shootings in Florida in 2023.
- Jan. 1, Miami Gardens: Nine people were shot or grazed in a shooting at a New Year’s Eve party. A 2-year-old was hit in the foot and a boy was shot in the knee, according to NBC6.
- Jan. 1, Ocala: Two men were killed and four others were injured in a shooting early New Year’s Day in a large gathering of people in Ocala, police reported.
- Jan. 5, Miami Gardens: As many as 10 people were wounded in a shooting outside The Licking, a soul food restaurant.
- Jan. 15, Homestead: Four people in their 20s were shot in Homestead, according to Miami-Dade police. One man, 24, died from his injuries.
- Jan. 16, Fort Pierce: Eight people were shot during an MLK Day celebration at a Fort Pierce park. One victim died the next morning.
- Jan. 30, Lakeland: Eleven people were shot, leaving two of them in critical condition in a drive-by shooting in Lakeland’s midtown.
- Feb. 22, Pine Hills: A gunman opened fire on a TV news crew reporting on a fatal shooting earlier in the day, before walking to a nearby home and shooting woman and her daughter.
Is anyone delusional enough to believe that letting anyone conceal carry will make these numbers go down. This is just mass shootings I am not even reporting individual incidents of gun homicide or suicide.
This mass hysteria and deification of guns and gun culture has to end. We live through 4 years of a Psychopathic Narcissist Moron, we won’t survive a Authoritarian, Napoleonic DeSantis who knows how to manipulate the system.

April Fools
Dwain Northey (Gen X)
This should have been yesterdays post but my head was in a different place, but I couldn’t pass up another opportunity to explore the origin of another silly day and its traditions that continue to live on.
I will attribute most of this information to the History Channels site:
April Fools’ Day—occurring on April 1 each year—has been celebrated for several centuries by different cultures, though its exact origins remain a mystery. April Fools’ Day traditions include playing hoaxes or practical jokes on others, often yelling “April Fools!” at the end to clue in the subject of the April Fools’ Day prank. While its exact history is shrouded in mystery, the embrace of April Fools’ Day jokes by the media and major brands has ensured the unofficial holiday’s long life.
Some historians speculate that April Fools’ Day dates back to 1582, when France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar, as called for by the Council of Trent in 1563. In the Julian Calendar, as in the Hindu calendar, the new year began with the spring equinox around April 1.
Historians have also linked April Fools’ Day to festivals such as Hilaria, which was celebrated in ancient Rome at the end of March. It involved people dressing up in disguises and mocking fellow citizens.
There’s also speculation that April Fools’ Day was tied to the vernal equinox, or first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, when Mother Nature fooled people with changing, unpredictable weather. This is a hypothesis that I tend to agree with, Mother Nature is moody this time of year.
April Fools’ Day spread throughout Britain during the 18th century. In Scotland, the tradition became a two-day event, starting with “hunting the gowk,” in which people were sent on phony errands (gowk is a word for cuckoo bird, a symbol for fool) and followed by Tailie Day, which involved pranks played on people’s backsides, such as pinning fake tails or “kick me” signs on them.
This strange tradition continues today with children playing prank on their parent, that they believe that they were the first ones to every think of such foolishness. There are even more malicious pranks were individuals make prank 911 calls but those are far less frequent with calls being readily identified via technology. Announcers regularly read false stories on radio shows that I presume fool some listeners. It is a day that begins the departure for the winter doldrums and starts the beginning of Spring and the closing out of another school year.
Hello spring let the season of heightened allergies begin.

Homicidal Species
Dwain Northey (Gen X)
Some would argue that man isn’t the only animal that kills its own species. Meerkats and Dolphins have been known to take the life of their own kind for no discernable reason. Man on the other hand has a history of wholesale genocide of its own kind. We slaughter each other for land and riches but we also kill just to kill, for the simple sport of extinguishing another life.
I argue that as we species man is psychopathic in it need to kill. I completely understand the reasoning of animals being hunted for nourishment since we are omnivores that require vegetable and animal nutrients. Man is the only animal the kills for trophies, kills for the sport of killing. No other animal that I am aware of has serial killers, that hunt and kill their own kind just because they have some sense of entitlement that their existence is more valuable than that of the one or many that they deem disposable.
We are psychopathic in our turn any technology into a means of controlling or killing each other. First man had clubs and its presumable that those first men killed each other with those blunt objects that were intended to use for hunting and providing for the tribe. Next step in evolution was the discovery of flint blades a valuable tool but also an implement of killing. The advancement of simple tools has always turned into those instruments being turned into ways to kill something or someone. Blades became swords, arrows became spears (or maybe that was the other way around), fire was turned into a chemical reaction that became gunpowder and we all know where that went. The advent of atomic energy wasn’t to provide clean power to the masses it was harnessed to kill masses.
When will our homicidal nature cease? We dream of traveling beyond this planet but in the front of our minds presume that we will encounter another race we may have to extinguish. We assume that just because we are a waring genocidal race that all other must be the same.
Damn this is dark, so I will end this with lets use our eminence power of reason the move forward, stop designing new ways to kill each other, use that same intellect as a species to make this world one that is for everyone and everything.

Can’t we all just get along (part II)
Lyle Northey (Silent/Boomer)
A continuing theme of getting along. Our environment is a living organism and we have for a very long time disregarded that fact. The native peoples of this nation and most other nations have a much friendlier way of living on the land than what seems to be current practices.
If you are in doubt about it being a living thing then remember that life begins in the soil and reaches for the sky and sun. That seedling then produces offspring of its own and when it has done that and lived to the maximum age it can attain then it returns to the soil and becomes food for future generations of whatever may grow there. Without that birth, growth, death, and decay process none of our crops would grow, trees to supply us with building material would not be present in our world and we would not be drilling for oil left from the decay of living creatures.
Our world at present is one of hostility and war. The citizens of earth do not all get along with one another in a productive way. We as a species have made and are making weapons to destroy each other but in the process we are not doing our world any favors either. We dream of the day we can travel to other planets and it has to be a question are we going use cargo space on our vessels for weapons of destruction, in case we run into something that is hostile, or are we going to take along items we hope will help us find a way to draw life substance from the environment on whatever planet we reach.
One may argue that we are not alone and that we have no idea what other species might be like, friend or foe. There is no way to know but if curiosity is a common factor in all species then should we work off the idea that curiosity will override hostility at least in the beginning.
Have we been visited in the past? We can not know for certain but if we go with what we do know from science then the possibility seems likely. We are told that the universe is expanding and that things are getting farther apart all the time. Based on that then we can assume that everything was closer together in the past and if there are civilizations that were advanced enough for interstellar travel at that time it would have been more likely at least distance wise. Looking at things on earth that seem beyond the reach of the inhabitants of earth that we have found it would seem someone with more skill and better tools must have had a hand in building some of these things. Helping to build and very possibly improving the lives of those here does not seem hostile, but of course that was before man became his own worst enemy and decided to kill all those that oppose him be it for political, religious, ideology, or ethnicity issues. Now if we are being visited as some say they may well be waiting for intelligent robots to take over and then they will contact the inhabitants of earth.
Now going back to earth and its survival. We have caused a great deal of harm in our practice of farming. The great plains were plowed up and allowed to dry out and blow away, much like the sands of the Sahara do yearly and are swept across the Atlantic during hurricane season. Entire mountains have been washed into waterways for the sake of finding gold and those ecosystems that were there have never recovered from that damage.
Everything that lives in the earth or on the earth has an impact, good, bad or otherwise. Too much methane from cattle, negative result. Too little water due to the building of dams again has a negative result. Altering the substructure with the exploration for mineral wealth has had and will continue to have negative impact on water sources, and we can only guess at some of the other effects that we have yet to monitor or even consider, think sink holes.
So we need to learn to live with this earth in a harmonious way. We can grow and harvest what we need. We just need to replenish and give back so that earth can support us and continue to survive and stay healthy. When we travel to another planet it will be an even greater challenge for us to learn how to establish a harmonious relationship so we can live there and not destroy what we have found.

Can’t we all just get along?
Lyle Northey (Silent/Boomer)
We are at a confusing and dangerous time in our nation. We have a centralized government, Congress and the President and associated departments. Then we have 50 or 51 separate governments as each state has its own copy headed by a Governor and again a Congress of representatives.
Each seems to feel that they have the authority to write laws to suit the local ideals and wishes. This is causing some divergent situations as the various laws are enforced state to state.
Gun control is one of those issues that has been addressed in a number of ways. Some states are adamant that guns that are specific to use in war have no place on a city street and should not be in the hands of John Q Public. Others have the view that no gun is too much for ownership, if you can afford a tank you can have one and more power to you.
The person in Tennessee bought 7 weapons and no one noticed. How is this possible? If there is a waiting time between request to purchase and pickup date is this not registered with some sort of official system that is monitoring all the details of this kind of transaction? If there is not a system in place then someone has really dropped the ball.
The state of Tennessee must be heaven for the NRA it seems that they have no controls on the sale or purchase of weapons. I would have thought that you would have to fill out paperwork for the background check and that would have to go to a central office for clearance so they would catch multiple applications or so it seems they would. Multiple purchases of the same type of weapon should be a red flag. How utterly devoid of control things are there but we cannot interfere with the 2nd amendment.
So from almost no oversight to total restriction. Utah has passed a law that makes it possible to remove almost any publication from schools if it mentions SEX. I am not sure if it is just that word or any reference to gender blending. The group behind it is a white supremise organization, go figure, and an overzealous state official. The only thing that makes the law worthwhile is the fact that a very savvy parent has called for the banning of the bible. This of course is meeting some opposition as they never intended for the bible to be banned. As the saying goes, live by the sword, die by the sword, or in this case make laws just don’t pay attention to what you are asking for.
Another area of complete opposites is abortion and the laws that have been enacted. Some states view the issue as the woman’s right to determine her needs as she sees fit. Others have said that once a heartbeat is detected then stopping that is murder and any and all that assisted in any way can be charged. So the woman that is pregnant calls the airline to book a flight to a state where she can have this done and then hires an uber driver to get to the airport and none of these people are aware of any thing other than someone wants to fly out of state can be tried as accessories to the crime of murder, to include the pilot that flew the plane. The state does not have to spy on anyone for all this to happen because they have offered a reward for anyone reporting such things to the state. Hello this is how the Nazi’s and the Communists managed to control the masses.
Now the really wonderful part of this is that should the baby be born and the mother is pushing the stroller along the street and there is a shooting that erupts and a stray round hits the baby it is just too bad that child was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. One state even had a case where a pregnant woman and another woman got into a fight and the other woman pulled a gun and shot the lady with the baby. The bullet hit the baby and killed it and the woman with the baby went to jail because she got into a fight and endangered the baby.
Additionally the states that are the most restrictive on birth control, as in you will have the baby, are the ones that have the least in public assistance for maternity leave, day care assistance, lowest minimum wages, no school lunch programs, and not assistance for much of anything that might seem like socialism. Once again I will say that the people that wish to tell others how they must conduct themselves in the event of unwanted pregnancy or if someone wishes to end pain and suffering from cancer etc, are the ones that will absolutely fight you tooth and nail over a shot to keep from getting sick or passing it on to others. This is because they can tell you but you cannot tell them.
Many of the decisions that are being made are counter productive to society and life in general. They are being made in a vacuum, the vacuum of ignorance, bias and prejudices that is obvious to everyone but totally denied by those in the decision process. No one wants to view anything from any angle but their own point of view. Each of us is different from our fingerprints to our attitudes about everything.
If we took a moment and realized that others do not have the same opinion as we do and let it go at that we would all be better off. No one has to read something that is offensive to them, no one is forced to drink intoxicants if they do not wish to, no one can push you into a church if you choose not to go, and if you are allowed those courtesies then why can you not allow courtesy to others?
As our world becomes more populated we are going to have to give consideration to others, like it or not. More apartments are being built or houses that nearly touch each other and we are all seeing increasing sizes in cities, schools on the road and everywhere. Some rules we need to be able to live together, some are so that we can be peacefully close without disturbance, like no loud music after 10 at night. Other rules are truly not needed as each of us can make decisions on our own values so if a certain practice is legal but not for you then do not take part but do not interfere with others that do unless it is absolutely necessary. Many cultures have lived very close for centuries and they have learned to allow the space needed to be comfortable with one another. Most people would not have sex in the company of their minor children, but if you lived in a one room shelter, hot or cold, how are you going to engage in that activity without others being present?

Democracy
Dwain Northey (Gen X)
A system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.
Great concept, right? We tout ourselves to be a great Democracy but is that the honest truth. I thinks some of our population is really trying to live up to that lofty objective while in recent times its been a , my way or nothing, stalemate situation.
There are intellectuals out in the world that assert the democracy isn’t a viable system and has inherent flaws.
Disadvantages of Democracy
- Preference to Quantity. The focus is on quantity rather than quality. …
- Incompetency. Democracies are governed by incapable people. …
- Based on Unnatural Equality. Democracy is founded on equality. …
- Influenced Sides in Democracy. …
- Misuse of Resources. …
- Corruption. …
- Conflict of Choices. …
- Less Participation.
Arguments against democracy
- Changes in leaders contribute to instability.
- Just political conflict, no place for morality.
- Consulting more individuals contributes to delays.
- Ordinary people are unaware of what’s good for them.
- Contributes to corruption.
Looking at all these reasons many would conclude that the political system of democracy is a failed experiment and we should go back to having a Monarch or an Autocratic system where the best and brightest would make all the right decisions and everyone would be happy. Wow what a utopia that would be. (I say sarcastically)
In China that has a unitary executive that proclaimed himself President for life asserts that 91% see their government as trustworthy as compared to the U.S. where that number is only 38%. That seems insane on it face, the fact that the Chinese government leaves out is that that 91% was of 36,000 people polled in a country that has a population 1.14 billion people that is a .00000032% of their people. Not such a lofty number when you see it like that.
100% of polled think I am the greatest guy I ever… the poll was me and my dog. See how that doesn’t mean a damn thing.
Really the founding principle if any democracy is freedom.
- Thought
- Religion
- Self determination
The current U.S. republican party proclaims that they are the party of freedom, well unless they collectively disagree with your freedom or it offends them on some moral or theological level. So yes they believe in the freedom to enforce their philosophy and or morals on you but that freedom is one sided… sorry that doesn’t sound like a freedom or a democracy to me.
I am the first to admit that democracy is messy and frustrating at times, when there are to many cooks in the kitchen things always get messy. We have proved in the past that when pushed we can come together and do what is best for all not just some. As a nation some thing have to change for the will of the people to again be the standard because now there are to many entrenched life time politicians pulling the string and far to many of them are controlled by big monied interests.
Currently huge percentages of the population are for safe abortions, restricting certain types of weapons and ammunition, marriage equality, moving forward on clean energy, any number of things but there are 100 senators and 435 congress people that we have entrusted to push forward those things. Unfortunately to many of them are owned by corporate interest and are steeped in their personal ideology to care what the majority of the public that elected them want.
Go back to the foundation a government of the people and by the people, not the one that we have now that is controlled by the big donations of corporations. Take the church out of government as the founders intended and if the church insists on preaching political doctrine from the pulpit then they can contribute to the tax base instead of being a welfare recipient of it.
I truly believe that mankind can solve any problem that it faces even if we are the ones that created the problem. I believe that Americans can get back to a place that we can collectively govern ourselves and be an example to others that yearn to govern themselves. Democracy is messy but it is better than the alternative. You have the right to vote, the right to protest, the right to elect representatives that will stand up for what is best for this nation, and if you don’t see anyone who you believe can do it, guess what you have the right to run for office and be the change you desire. This is America you currently have all these rights please participate so that you don’t lose them.

Something not so depressing
Dwain Northey (Gen X)
With all that crap in the news, Trumps impending indictment, gun violence, you name it… it is all gloom and doom. I want to talk about my water idea, and the positives and negatives of terraforming some, not all deserts.
I know sounds like a grandiose idea but terraforming arid land has been done, in fact it was done way before today’s technology.
In the 3rd Century BC, the ancient wonder of Petra in Jordan terraformed the desert and created an oasis that supported 20,000 people. The Nabataeans developed a way to collect and store water in watertight holes or cisterns. Hidden underground, these cisterns kept water safe from both evaporation and enemies. Rock-cut channels along the Siq were used to carry water. The Nabataeans used underground cisterns to collect and store water. They used the collected water and built canals that brought water to man made terraces to grow crops to sustain their people. This monumental achievement was done with hand forged tools back in the Iron Age.
With the technology he have now why can’t we develop ways to sequester water in California when the rains come, saving it for utilization instead of it just filling rivers and flowing to the pacific. Hell why can’t we do that everywhere seems like a no brainer. That could be a big step in securing our water future.
But what about desalinization and the possibility of terraforming deserts making them fertile areas for crop growth. There are tons of arguments against turning the deserts green most center around the potential to change the climate. I find that a strange claim considering the continuing use of burning fossil fuel is doing to the global climate. The proponents of terraforming want to perfect it in a small scale then move it to Mars making it inhabitable. Why must we use up this planet just to relocate and mess up another one.
My terraforming idea isn’t to change the Sahara into a rainforest or anything that grand it is to potentially created oasis’s that could feed the local population and possibly produce renewable resources like bamboo. Making multiple man made areas on every continent that could improve the quality of life for the region that they are in.
I know it is human nature to overdue, not keep things to a reasonable scale but I think this could be one of those global initiatives that could pull us back from the brink. I know that the last part statement sound like exactly what I was warning against. The plan would have to be region specific, start with a reverse river in the Senora Desert in Mexico and the South West U.S. Next establish the same process in Australia. Use the water sequestration in parts of Africa and places that large saline bodies of water aren’t close enough to employ the reverse river technology.
This is my pie in the sky vision for the future that I am sure that I won’t witness but hopefully someone with the means and motivation will come across this blog in the future and make it a reality.

WHY… Just F’ing Why?
Dwain Northey (Gen X)
This is the headline from Fox… ‘Nashville transgender school shooter’s messages to friend show ‘much deeper issues,’ says ex-FBI special agent’.Not, one more horrific school shooting, or anything about our continued national nightmare of gun violence, Transgender school shooter… WFT. Why is this even an issue, we don’t get headlines like, ‘Male White Nationalist’ involved in mass shooting, or ‘Texas gun laws allow WHITE MALE 18 year old to purchase assault style weapons prior to school shooting’.
This is another horrific event in our history of deifying guns and gun culture, instead of recognizing and confronting the real problem the assailant has to be demonized. That characterization fits the Fox model perfectly if the assailant happens to fall into a group that they are already attacking, it’s the exception that proves the norm.
I am sick about the level of gun violence in the United States, I am disgusted that we keep having funerals for children with no solution even discussed. We had an assault weapon ban in the past and during that brief period mass shooting were rare.
The Supreme Court and lower courts have ruled repeatedly that a wide range of gun safety laws are constitutional, rejecting the gun lobby’s dangerous interpretation of the Second Amendment. The 2008 ruling in District of Columbia v. Heller marked the first Supreme Court ruling on the Second Amendment in nearly 70 years. The Court ruled in favor of Dick Heller, who sued Washington DC over its ban on handguns in the home. The Court clarified an individual’s right to have a handgun in the home for self-defense but denied that the Second Amendment provides an unlimited license to bring weapons into all corners of American society. In fact, Justice Scalia explicitly noted that the Second Amendment is “not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose.”
Machine guns and fifty caliber rifles are highly destructive weapons appropriate only for military use. Machine guns have been comprehensively regulated at the federal level since the 1930s, and the manufacture or importation of new machine guns for sale to civilians has been banned since 1986. On the other hand, federal law treats fifty caliber rifles no differently from other long guns, as do all but three states and the District of Columbia.
Why aren’t AR15s and assault style weapons classified under this 1930s rule. The gun manufactures rationale is that these weapons sold to the public aren’t fully automatic, only one round per trigger pull. What they never like to point out is that when fitted with a high capacity magazine these weapons can discharge rounds as fast as the shooter can pull the trigger also that any with a metal file and access to the internet can modify the weapon to be fully automatic.
The common denominator in all these shooting isn’t the gender of the shooter or if they were bullied or mentally unhinged it is the weapon and easy access to ammunition. When will we address the elephant in the room just as other nations have done. The same people that stand on their soap boxes and declare that the 2nd amendment gives ‘all’ Americans the right to keep and bare arms don’t really mean ‘all’ and paradoxically won’t allow guns into their conventions. Yes I am talking about you RNC and NRA.
I am disappoint to admit that the only way that the gun issue will be resolved is when our Government is occupied with Millennials and Gen Z that collectively have PTSD from shooter drills in school from an early age. The current Boomer and even my Gen X representatives don’t seem to understand the trauma that is being imposed on the school children today. I ask the older generation to harken back to a time when there were bomb, hide under your desk drills. Remember how traumatizing those were? Now imagine that that bomb is walking threw your school and you don’t know when it might explode. Not a comforting visual. That is what we have been subjecting our kids with. Police offices go to work every day not knowing if they at some point might be involved in a situation that could cost them their lives, school children are going though that same mental trauma and they are not trained or equipped to fight back.
19 school shootings in 2023 and March isn’t even over yet not to mention the number of mass shooting over all. Congress, thoughts and prayers do nothing!!! Equipping classrooms with bullet\proof dry erase boards, asking for teachers to be armed, even children having Kevlar plates in their backpacks aren’t addressing the problem.
Bullying sucks, it has been going on forever and needs to stop but the easy access to firearms has eliminated the power to resolve issues with words. Shoot first has become the answer to many obstacles… the defining problem is the GUN, address the problem.

Thinning the Herd
Dwain Northey (Gen X)
It has been more than 3 years since COVID 19 started culling the herd of humanity.
Global number of COVID-19 cases to date
There have been more than three-quarters of a billion confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, likely a fraction of the true number of SARS-CoV-2 infections, the virus that causes COVID. An accurate and up-to-date picture of where and how much the virus is transmitting has been challenging given limited testing, imperfect surveillance and reporting systems, and other factors. This number includes more than 1.1 million in the U.S. that supposedly has some of the best medicine in the world today. (That is really up for debate.)
Even with these astronomical numbers, more that 750 million deaths worldwide, there are still contrarians. Many of these are right here in the good ol’ U.S.A. which leaves me dumbfounded. The nonbelievers mainly fall into the group that have roundly rebuked science for that addled opinion of one man, whom much to his minions chagrin has been given every vaccine. The very vaccine that they want their guy to get the credit for but still refuse to take themselves. The arguments range from, there is no way a vaccine could have been created so quickly, to Bill Gates is trying to reprogram our DNA.
- First argument: To Fast
- If they want to credit their guy lets talk about ‘Operation Warp Speed’.
- Trump did not create the vaccine in his own private lab.
- He is not that Smart.
- Messenger RNA, or mRNA, was discovered in the early 1960s; research into how mRNA could be delivered into cells was developed in the 1970s.
- The mRNA vaccine research started in the Obama administration in 2009.
- If you can do the math that’s 11 plus years before the COVID vaccine was given to the public.
- I can already hear the dissenters, ‘how can a vaccine be made for a virus that does not exist?”
- Scientists first identified a human coronavirus in 1965. It caused a common cold. Later that decade, researchers found a group of similar human and animal viruses and named them after their crown-like appearance. Seven coronaviruses can infect humans.
- COVID 19 is a coronavirus
- If you can do the math that’s 11 plus years before the COVID vaccine was given to the public.
This really blows the way to fast argument out of the water.
- Big Tech trying to reprogram our DNA.
- The technology used in the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines is a way of giving your cells temporary instructions to make the coronavirus spike protein. This protein is found on the surface of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The vaccines teach your immune system to protect you if you ever encounter the virus.
- The vaccine mRNA is short-lived and is rapidly broken down after it’s done its job, as happens with all your other mRNA.
The mRNA is designed to teach your body to defend itself from a virus, it will not give you superpowers or make you grown a third eye. To many people are watching the Avengers Movies, trust me none of the mRNA vaccines were developed by StarkTech and none of the nanotechnology in the Avengers movies is real.
There are hundreds of other easily debunked claims out there but I don’t have the time or energy to swat every one of them down.
The last one I will address is the dispute that if we have a vaccine why is there still COVID19. The easy answer is because a virus likes to mutate, evolve to survive and replicate, the sad fact that a large number of individuals refused to be vaccinated allowed the original strain to mutate generating variants that continued to spread. We have effectively wiped-out POLIO because once a vaccine was developed everyone got it and it was continued to be administered for generations. Unfortunately with an anti-vacs community it appears that some diseases we thought we had eliminated are making a comeback. My advice is get vaccinated and let Darwin’s law take care of the rest and thin the herd

Agnostic Relationship with the Facts
Dwain Northey (Gen X)
I heard this statement the other day in reference to Donald Trump and Fox talking heads, they have an ‘agnostic relationship with facts’. My immediate thought was that is the most appropriate statement I think I have ever heard refence the parties in question.
noun
- a person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God or of anything beyond material phenomena; a person who claims neither faith nor disbelief in God.
Just that the part of the Websters definition pertaining to God and the characterization completely fits.
Tucker loves to take a statement completely out of context then pose the question to his audience that makes it sound perfectly reasonable . Here is an example having to deal with the Nord stream pipeline and Ukraine.
“Anyone, we thought about it for even a moment, realized that of course Vladimir Putin didn’t blow up his own pipeline. Why would he do that? The Biden administration blew up Vladimir Putin’s pipeline. Of course, Joe Biden himself had promised on camera that he would do it and then Biden officials publicly celebrated after it happened. So. every rational person knew the truth. After a few months, the people who lie for a living decided to make up a news story. Unfortunately, this one was even dumber and less believable.
OK, they conceded Putin didn’t do it. That was wrong, we’ll admit it was not Putin who blew up the pipeline. It was the Ukrainians, but not the Ukrainians. You’re familiar with the ones who are getting billions of American tax dollars every month. No, no, no. Not our Ukrainian friends. They would never do that. “
Half steps and blatant lies with the harmless question with a sarcastic undertone and all the Faux minions believe total B.S.
Hannity has the audacity to actually call something a hoax or a lie that is the factual reporting then double back and assert that he never said what he really said. This is a similar tactic that Donald uses but dear leader, only listening to the voices in his head, has no problem spewing lies with impunity. When called out on the lie Donny doubles down and piles more manure behind the lie making it even more outlandish.
Fox is a propaganda network it tries to stimulate others to accept without challenge his own assertions, or to act as they want them to do. The idea of using suggestion or stimulation as a propaganda device is that it will lead a public to accept a proposition even though there are not logical grounds for accepting it. The propagandist, i.e. Carson, Hannity and other on air personalities usually tries to side-step critical reactions from his audience, and therefore suggestion is one of his most important tools.
How does the propagandist network use this tool? By making broad and positive statements. By presenting those statements in simple and familiar language. By refusing to admit, or even suggest, that there is another side to the question.
As a nation and a world, we need to start having a relationship with facts and ignoring cherry picked media that have convinced us the facts aren’t true based on the filter they wish to present said facts. Back to the Walter Cronkite days of “And that’s the way it is…” unvarnished reporting of the fact.
