What’s your favorite month of the year? Why?

The time and seasons are cyclical every place every time has its ups. Every time has its downs. I don’t tend to dwell on what is a favorite I don’t enjoy the holidays but that’s my own personal issue.

I just read the writeup about America is a War at Home on the Great America News. This is very much a conservative site as all the problems are blamed on Democrats and Biden.
What I see as a lack of understanding that America did not begin as one brand of religion country. The founding fathers did not name a God or deny that people are different and yet equal, even if they did allow slavery.
Now we are being told that if religious dogma and free market methods are not followed, we are somehow unfit to be American. They claim this is not about white supremacy, but it is and denying that we have just recently been home to people with other than heterosexual tendencies is very narrow minded. Also, the business of the classing of every person that attempts to come here from somewhere else as an illegal alien is just crap. Putting them on buses and sending them to DC is not an answer for someone that is supposed to be in a position of authority.
Do not know what to do about it, maybe finding a way to get rid of the vipers in the mix would help but as long as we have the hate mongers we are screwed. I wonder if they have ever thought about how things might work if they would only try to work through a problem rather than blame it on others and deny that there can be a way to solve it.
As always any and all comments welcomed.

This saying has been an often-repeated phase as of late and I absolutely agree with the sentiment but am not certain how to deal with the rampant stupidity. Agreed it is very difficult to fix stupid, but do we need to even engage stupid or just politely walk away. I am assured that I am not the only person that encounters the deep dark recesses of dumbness and situation by situation it is always to judgment call whether to engage to dumb, challenge it, or just stay quiet.
If your child says something ridiculous as a parent, you are obligated to challenge the statement because we all know that if unchallenged that dumbness will fester and grow into even more ludicrous thoughts. Do we, as a society, have the obligation to challenge at least some of the stupid shit that is spewed at us on a regular basis? That is a hard call. The other untold truth about ingrained stupidity is that when challenged it may become violent. Idiots don’t like it when their idiocy is pointed out, especially in group settings.
My dilemma is that just like children if stupidity goes unchecked it spreads like the common cold. One of the Third Reich’s propaganda tools was to tell a lie so big, so absurd, that some would believe that there was no way that anyone would make it up, then they repeated it until especially of the lie went unchallenged. We all remember the Kelley Anne Conway ‘alternative facts’ line, its not a lie it just alternative facts. Sorry when I was a kid bull shit was called bull shit there was not counter argument.
We survived 4 years with a blowhard in the White House that couldn’t go five minutes without spewing his version of reality, ‘alternative facts’, and he is still doing it. Sadly, far too many people don’t verify the facts and those that do are unwilling to the challenge the bullies that rapid fire repeat the propagandized lie. The truth has become partisan, which it never should be, the truth is true, and a lie is a lie no matter what side of the isle it comes from.
We have let nonsense become mainstream, now there are flat earthers, science deniers, those that will tell you with a straight face, and one is the Speaker of the House, that the earth is 6,000 years old. We can’t fix stupid be as a thinking rational person I feel we have at least some obligations to challenge it, throw facts, statistics, even logic in stupid’s face, stupid won’t like it but maybe if it is challenged enough stupid won’t be a stupid.
Thanks for putting up with another rant… feel free to interject any suggestion on how to combat the dumb in our world today.

Trump claiming to be your retribution to the Republican Party. He can hardly claim such a status to the American people in general as he wishes to destroy everything that makes America worth being a part of. We already have too much gun violence, homelessness, overpricing on medications, doctors, hospitals, and commodities thanks to the Republican ideas of trickle down economics. Send jobs overseas where labor is cheap and then bring the products back and sell them for inflated prices if you can find anyone that can afford to buy the stuff.
Over half of our nation’s youth would like to leave and live elsewhere because life in other countries looks much better. Public education, health care, and no toxic politics are all reasons for the desire to leave, not to mention the whacko gun laws.
There have been speeches made about how nations like Russia, China and North Korea have leaders that are strong, intelligent (?) and in power for ever, and that is what we need and we can get that with Trump he is strong (?) intelligent (?), and whats to be in power forever. In order for that to happen we would have to elect him and stop voting until he died off, which might be a damn sight sooner than he thinks.
Ludwig was King and he was declared insane and he drowned in a lake. Other leaders that were found lacking have not stayed in power for long, as history is witness. If the party that believes they know best for all of us thinks they can run this up everyone’s ass it may prove to be a bit more difficult than they believe. With the pious already showing signs of being corrupt to the nth degree it is hardly likely that they will have devine assistance in getting their way.
We would all be better off if a very vain person would stuff his ego where the sun don’t shine and go home instead of continuing to whine about having an election stolen when it was not. Being a good citizen is just too much to expect from someone that was never taught that losing is a possibility.
His proposal to build camps to put immigrants in is another of the ugly truths of someone that believes that being in power means you can be ruthless and inhumane. He has also indicated that those that oppose him would or could find themselves in such camps as well. What a wonderful world we live in, and no doubt there are some that are very much in favor of such things. Wonder how they would feel about that situation if the tables were turned and when he loses they were rounded up as enemies of the state and locked in camps? No doubt they would all be whining about their Constitutional Rights even though they were perfectly happy to take away other peoples rights and not care.
Let’s be totally honest about this, if you like the idea of waking up and being able to live your life as a free person, not as an object of a dictator, then you do not want to put Donald Trump back in the White House.

We are going to have a major crisis to overcome in the very near future. It is time to put the country back on its feet and start shutting some revolving doors that are allowing a few of our less than honest citizens to run everything into the dirt.
When did corporations become persons with voting rights, when did money learn to talk, why is it okay to bribe people in Congress and in the Supreme Court, and when did the division of church and state stop? All of these issues have been approved by the Supreme Court over time and since they are on a lifetime appointment changing things does not look like an option. So maybe we better change the appointment schedule. There are other issues that need to be changed as well, it seems that the Court recently passed an ethics bill and none of the things that would get them thrown out of the temple were considered bad. These are all supposed to be such good religious and righteous people, in a horse’s ass.
Every major problem we have today be it homelessness, gun violence, drugs, or anything else you care to name can be traced back to a stupid decision made by the members of the supreme court. They have allowed so many things to be convoluted into law that big business now buys outright or bribes openly officials that could make a difference and that is where money gets a voice. The drug companies, the oil companies, and anyone else that wishes to lie, cheat, steal, inflate, or misrepresent something and they have the money can simply grease a few palms and that is all it takes.
More and more efforts are being made to take away rights to vote, own property, get a good education, have access to health care or even read something that might be slightly controversial. It is okay to separate families if they are not white, it is okay to kill people if they are of a group that believes in something other than straight relationships, and the logic and reasoning for hate and disenfranchisement become less reasonable for sane people and easier to support for those that find reasons to find other to be betheath them.
Each of us has worth no matter what we have done, it could be our value is a lesson is what not to do or be but it is worth something to someone. Far too often it seems the view we have of those that are different from us is taken as a view through the sights on a weapon rather than a picture on a postcard saying “Wish You Were Here”. The song says “From a Distance You Look Like My Friend” and given half the chance probably would be but we are shooting at one another so much for being friends. The sad fact is that most of the people do not know why they are fighting.. If you could figure it out as something other than just a couple of malcontents deciding to have it out and dragging everyone else in to the mess you could probably sell the movie rights for a small fortune.
Please feel free to comment, agree, object…
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

If I had the resources, I would be a globe trotter and travel to every country and every large city across the world for the rest of the time I am on this planet, so I wanna be a nomad.

I would like to think that someone’s first impression of me is that I am genuine. I tend to always speak my mind and am generally willing got listen to a differing point of view. That being said depending on how I perceive that particular point of view it may be received with a moderate to extreme level of sarcasm… to wit your perception of me may be that I am an ASS. And that’s ok too .

Let’s talk science and some hard reality 71% of the earths surface is covered with water only about three percent of Earth’s water is freshwater. Of that, only about 1.2 percent can be used as drinking water; the rest is locked up in glaciers, ice caps, and permafrost, or buried deep in the ground. Most of our drinking water comes from rivers and streams. According to global census the worlds population is 8 billion a number that is mind blowing.
The reality is that the wars of the 21st and 22nd centuries (if we last that long) will not be over oil or land they will be over Water and the way we keep burning fossil fuels and heating the planet the amount of fresh water is going to be less. Yes we are, on a global level, trying to convert our power consumption to zero carb emitting sources but that is not going to change population growth or the finite amount of water on the planet.
As much as we need renewable energy we need to develop new technologies to desalinate water. Saudi Arabia and the UAE are building desalination plants, but they are currently dependent on fossil fuels for the energy to produce potable water which in a zero-carbon future is unsustainable. The other problem I see is the ability to transport the water over large distances, we need to develop a reverse river that not only moves the water but also pull the NaCl (salt) out of the water.
Theoretically salt can be removed through filtration and ultimately via rainout, which is a process of boiling water and collecting the stream which is fresh water. Universities should have their best and brightest trying to solve this problem and do it with renewable energy.
This is my non-engineer potential solution to develop the technology in North America.
Build a pipeline that runs from Baja California through the Sonoran Desert and create a Lake Meade size lake in Southern Arizona. Yes, I am aware that the path goes through Mexico but I see that as a positive not a negative because of the cooperation between both countries and the jobs it would generate on both sides of the boarder. The initial portion of the energy needed to push the water east would be provided threw wave energy then via pumping stations using a combination of wind and solar, both of which the desert has plenty. The pipes themselves would have charcoal and sediment micro filters that would gradually remove the salt from the sea water and near the end of the line rainout would be employed using solar to finalize the process.
I realize this a grand plan but think of the amount of good that could be created with this process. The pipeline itself would be roughly 220km long and realistically would require a pumping station every 15-20km , if it is 20km that is 11 pumping stations. At those stations there could be understandable run off areas. In brackish water sustainable Bamboo, Coconut Palms, and other plants that can be used for bio fuels can be grown as well as Hemp which has a variety of positive uses. Also fisheries could be developed to harvest tilapia and salmon as well as a number of other fish. The fish could feed thousands and Bamboo forests in the desert would create a carbon sink that would help to slow global heating.
If our best mind could develop this technology, we could export it all over the planet and in our own way terraform areas that are currently unsustainable.
In the Immortal words of John Lennon,
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
Let’s get to work on this a build a better world for the next generation.

The world turns and yet it seems to be turning inside out. Why do we need Donald Trump.? He is the P T Barnum of the age. His skill is to fool as many people as possible with the largest profit to self and the largest loss to go to burn the entire town down and that will be fine with his followers. His followers are calling for citizen arrest of the AG of NY and the Judge that is sitting the case in NY. If it were suggested that someone arrest Trump we would be hearing how we cannot do that sort of thing.
He can talk shit about whatever he wants to and he has a 1st Amendment right to do so, but no one has a right to speak badly of him, or his followers. They keep falling back on the Constitution but they intend to do away with it once they have the power to do so. What are they going to put in place of the Constitution?
The most recent speeches Trump has given have called those that have opposed him vermin, and this is very much in the vein of what was done to dehumanize segments of the population so that attacking and killing them was considered acceptable. This was very common with Hitler and the Jewish “Problem” as he termed it. So we have fighting in the “Holy Land” and someone has to start making comments to bring up more racial tension.
This year on Veteran’s day he gets up and says things about how vets need all the praise they can get and blah blah blah, out the other side of his mouth. This is the same dude that called them losers and asked what’s in it for them when visiting Arlington. Would not go to the Cemeteries in Europe, did not want disabled veterans at the White House, insulted families of fallen soldiers, and is now supposed to be the great benefactor of veterans, what a pile of crap.
He has spent a lifetime lying to everyone about everything. Bragging when he has had nothing to brag about and generally being an asshole of the most magnificent kind. His day is coming and when the time comes to pay the piper all the blusters in the world is not going to help. He has attempted to overthrow an election so that he could stay in power and his ego has kept that lie going. All of the people that were in that soup have decided that they do not wish to spend the rest of their lives in a jail cell to appease Donald Trump and his oversized ego. Hopefully the voters of this nation will also decide that they do not want to spend anymore time listening to the ego of any man that so obviously has his head up his ass whether he hails from New York or Florida or wherever.
