Remember the good old days when there were only travel advisories and or ban for, what some would call, third word countries? Well now because of the vile vitriol of one Governor Ron DeSantis the state of Florida, a vacation destination, has received a travel advisory by the NAACP.
The wannabe future President has made the climate so venomous in Florida the anyone who is a part of any minority group does not feel safe in the state. Black, Brown, LGTBQ+, these are all groups that are under attack in the Sunshine State. The majority Republican legislature and their fearful leader has passed laws that make almost everything a jailable offence and the fact that the state has very loose gun laws and a stand your ground law makes it more dangerous than being a blonde female in central America.
Florida residents are able to carry concealed guns without a permit under a bill signed into law by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis. The law, which goes into effect on July 1, means that anyone who can legally own a gun in Florida can carry a concealed gun in public without any training or background check. This with their ridiculous stand your ground law, ‘Florida’s “Stand-Your-Ground” law was passed in 2005. The law allows those who feel a reasonable threat of death or bodily injury to “meet force with force” rather than retreat. Similar “Castle Doctrine” laws assert that a person does not need to retreat if their home is attacked.’ Makes it really sketchy to go there.
This in top of the don’t say gay rule and the new trans ruling that just passed.
“Florida lawmakers have no shame. This discriminatory bill is extraordinarily desperate and extreme in a year full of extreme, discriminatory legislation. It is a cruel effort to stigmatize, marginalize and erase the LGBTQ+ community, particularly transgender youth. Let me be clear: gender-affirming care saves lives. Every mainstream American medical and mental health organization – representing millions of providers in the United States – call for age-appropriate, gender-affirming care for transgender and non-binary people.
“These politicians have no place inserting themselves in conversations between doctors, parents, and transgender youth about gender-affirming care. And at the same time that Florida lawmakers crow about protecting parental rights they make an extra-constitutional attempt to strip parents of – you guessed it! – their parental rights. The Human Rights Campaign strongly condemns this bill and will continue to fight for LGBTQ+ youth and their families who deserve better from their elected leaders.”
This law makes it possible for anyone to just accuse someone of gender affirming care to have their child taken from them this would include someone traveling from out of state. This alone justifies a travel ban to the Magic Kingdom for families.
Oh, and I haven’t even mentioned DeSantis holy war with Disney, the largest employer in the state. I really hope the Mouse eats this ass holes lunch.
Well that’s enough bitching, thanks again for suffering though my rant.

Dinosaurs probably didn’t roar.
If asked what a dinosaur sounded like, many people would likely recall the roaring T. rex of Jurassic Park. However, that earth-shaking bellow seems to be a case of Hollywood exercising some creative liberty. While we don’t know what these reptiles really sounded like, since they mostly died out some 66 million years ago, scientists at least have some reasonable ideas based on the anatomical structures of well-preserved fossils, combined with studies of the dinosaurs and their close relatives that exist today.
Yes, dinosaurs do still exist, in the form of birds, which branched off from non-avian dinosaurs around 160 million years ago. Although birds mainly produce noises via a soft-tissue organ called the syrinx, which has yet to be uncovered from a non-avian dinosaur fossil, many of our feathered friends also engage in closed-mouth vocalization, in which sounds are pushed out from a pouch in the neck area. Another modern animal that utilizes closed-mouth vocalization is the crocodile, which just so happens to share a common ancestor with dinosaurs. Given the family ties, it’s logical to conclude that some dinosaurs emitted something resembling the cooing of a dove, the booming of an ostrich, or the rumbling of a croc. Since larger animals with longer vocal cords produce lower frequency sounds, it’s also likely that enormous sauropods like Brachiosaurus delivered noises that, to our ears, would dip into an octave of infrasound — felt and not heard. On the other hand, the ear structures of the dinosaur-crocodile predecessor indicate a sensitivity to high-pitched noises, possibly the chirping of babies.
The field continues to evolve as new information comes to light; the recent discovery of the first known fossilized dinosaur larynx, from an ankylosaur, suggests these creatures were able to modify noises in a bird-like way despite the lack of a syrinx. And none of this even touches on the sound capabilities of hadrosaurs like Parasaurolophus, which almost certainly delivered a distinct call from the air passages that funneled through a conspicuous head crest. All in all, while a roar from a Jurassic-bred beast may have been the work of a Hollywood studio, there’s no movie magic needed to recognize that Earth’s prehistoric hills were alive with all sorts of reptilian sounds of music.

Which aspects do you think makes a person unique?

Some who has seen other places, countries, states etc.. People that are open to explore outside their comfort zone are far more unique than those who won’t step out of their backyard.

Ring Around the Rosie

A pocket full of posies
Ashes, ashes
We all fall downYou may have heard the popular Black Plagueorigin story for this rhyme, with the titular “ring” representing the red rings that would appear on the skin of people with the disease. However, there are other variations of the rhyme, such as 1883’s “Ring a ring a rosie/A bottle full of posie/All the girls in our town/Ring for little Josie,” that present different theories.
When he analyzed this version, folklorist Philip Hiscock offered a less deadly translation. Religious bans on dancing in Britain and North America in the 19th century led to “play parties,” with ring games that were similar to square dancing but without music, so the events quietly flew under the radar.
“The rings referred to in the rhymes are literally the rings formed by the playing children,” explains Hiscock. “‘Ashes, ashes’ probably comes from something like ‘Husha, husha,’ another common variant which refers to stopping the ring and falling silent. And the falling down refers to the jumble of bodies in that ring when they let go of each other and throw themselves into the circle.”

Legacy
If you could have something named after you, what would it be?

Am not arrogant enough to what my name etched in stone, I do hope that during my lifetime I will have something published. If in the future my son or one of his offspring honored my memory with gifting my name to their child that would be very special.

Apoplectic

The Meek shall inherit the Earth. So it says in the book that seems to be the guiding text for all these people that know what is best for all of us. They are taking the position that all life begins when even the thought of having sex occurs to one or both of them. Not quite but damned close. That the life created must be protected all the way to birth, after that it is on it’s own, sorry no time for you and don’t ask for anything. We are too busy interfering with everything else to be bothered.
All the high rollers want to put AI in their factories and warehouses and stores and drive their trucks and just everything. This is so that they can keep the wheels turning and put out more of the widgets that they make and they do not have to deal with unions, health insurance for workers, vacations, or any of that sort of stuff. This is more profit for them to enjoy and oh yes almost forgot, no SSA deposits from us because we are going to rid our system of this handout.
So now we have factories turning our goods, and trucks taking them to warehouses and we have removed all the barriers to gas and oil exploration and mining and we are enjoying our trips to the golf courses etc. Strange how the cities seem so devoid of people shopping or taking trips, and it has become almost impossible to find a decent place for a meal, just don’t understand it.
Could it be that since no one is working and there are no social systems to help anyone no one has any money. All your warehouses are full to overflowing and there are no orders for goods, The factories have run out of resource material and we can not find a way to resupply and if we could there is no market. The fortunes you and the other elitists have amassed are doing you no good at all as there are no consumers left that can buy your goods. The mad hunt for the pot at the end of the rainbow has brought nothing but polluted water, destroyed countryside and no joy other than to sing “I Did My Way”.
By this time humanity will have melted into the wilderness or been returned to the earth by virtue of killing one another to stay alive. Mother Nature will take one last breath of air that has enough oxygen to support life and cry one last pint of water and then it will all shut down and in a few hundred years it will start again with some other species that hopefully is smarter than we have been.
Wonder why God has not done us in yet, I have then I remembered he sends a rainbow to say his word is good. It is our own damned foolishness that will destroy the rainbow. -
Forgotten Knowledge
What’s something most people don’t understand?

Your opinion is just that your opinion… it is not fact no matter how much you believe it is. We are wiling to listen to your opinion but unless backed up by actual evidence it only an opinion and thusly will be taken as such.

Has belief gone too far?
Lyle Northey (Silent/Boomer)

You know things are getting pretty much out of the realm of reality when even the comic strips start addressing the nation’s problems. The continued belief that the election in 2020 was rigged and stolen. If you want to look at elections that have been stolen, look at 2016 when the person that got put in the White House lost by over 7 million votes. That is very much a theft of an election.
So we have all the reality shows that focus on BigFoot, Aliens, and Ghosts, none of which can be proven by having actual evidence. People believe all that anyway, and while we are at it we can move to other unproven myths known as religion.
All of the minor myths are scary stuff to keep you awake at night or frighten children, but the last one is supposed to be true. The question is why is it any more true than the others, because books have been written about it, people have believed it and followed religious practices for centuries, what makes it different?
So God made the Heavens and Earth and has the power to destroy it all. According to the Bible he has done this at least once and the reason was not nearly as compelling as what is going on in the world today. Those folks were being a bit randy with lust etc, whereas today we have wholesale murder in the streets in places, the US being one.
We have people that are so sure they have the answers that everyone is to be brought to heel behind them and obey unquestioningly their brand of bull shit. We have a nation that is made up of 50 separate states that have lived for quite some time without the need to guard the demarcations between those states. We have nearly reached the point of having those lines guarded because of the absolute refusal of some state governors to cooperate with the federal government because their little hero did not make it into office. Each one of these rather juvenile individuals thinks he is a king in his own domain and does not have to answer to any authority because he is being prompted from the sidelines by that hero to be just as disruptive as possible to make things bad so that when the hero once more rises to power we can make it better and I will look so good. More Bull Shit.
The other issue with the religious aspect is that if God could destroy the earth or at least the creatures living on it and did so because they were being overly fond of one another why hasn’t he done it because we are killing one another. Think about it two world wars with the invention of the atomic bomb and the widespread ownership and use of guns today, killing not only those in Armies but children in schools, why has he not destroyed it all by now?
