Remember the good old days when there were only travel advisories and or ban for, what some would call, third word countries? Well now because of the vile vitriol of one Governor Ron DeSantis the state of Florida, a vacation destination, has received a travel advisory by the NAACP.
The wannabe future President has made the climate so venomous in Florida the anyone who is a part of any minority group does not feel safe in the state. Black, Brown, LGTBQ+, these are all groups that are under attack in the Sunshine State. The majority Republican legislature and their fearful leader has passed laws that make almost everything a jailable offence and the fact that the state has very loose gun laws and a stand your ground law makes it more dangerous than being a blonde female in central America.
Florida residents are able to carry concealed guns without a permit under a bill signed into law by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis. The law, which goes into effect on July 1, means that anyone who can legally own a gun in Florida can carry a concealed gun in public without any training or background check. This with their ridiculous stand your ground law, ‘Florida’s “Stand-Your-Ground” law was passed in 2005. The law allows those who feel a reasonable threat of death or bodily injury to “meet force with force” rather than retreat. Similar “Castle Doctrine” laws assert that a person does not need to retreat if their home is attacked.’ Makes it really sketchy to go there.
This in top of the don’t say gay rule and the new trans ruling that just passed.
“Florida lawmakers have no shame. This discriminatory bill is extraordinarily desperate and extreme in a year full of extreme, discriminatory legislation. It is a cruel effort to stigmatize, marginalize and erase the LGBTQ+ community, particularly transgender youth. Let me be clear: gender-affirming care saves lives. Every mainstream American medical and mental health organization – representing millions of providers in the United States – call for age-appropriate, gender-affirming care for transgender and non-binary people.
“These politicians have no place inserting themselves in conversations between doctors, parents, and transgender youth about gender-affirming care. And at the same time that Florida lawmakers crow about protecting parental rights they make an extra-constitutional attempt to strip parents of – you guessed it! – their parental rights. The Human Rights Campaign strongly condemns this bill and will continue to fight for LGBTQ+ youth and their families who deserve better from their elected leaders.”
This law makes it possible for anyone to just accuse someone of gender affirming care to have their child taken from them this would include someone traveling from out of state. This alone justifies a travel ban to the Magic Kingdom for families.
Oh, and I haven’t even mentioned DeSantis holy war with Disney, the largest employer in the state. I really hope the Mouse eats this ass holes lunch.

Winter… the summers are brutal here in Phoenix but from September till May you couldn’t ask for better weather. Big plus is I haven’t had to shovel my car out in 13 years😊

This something that Democrats are getting accused of by the Trumpublicans… mostly FAUX So Called News and other rightwing media outlets. (will not call them conservative because they aren’t)
In reality the Democratic party has, to my knowledge, never spiked the ball because we never feel like the job is done. Historically only the GOP tend to claim victory, even when victory hasn’t been accomplished, anyone remember G.W. Bush claiming mission accomplished only to have the Iraq/Afghanistan conflict to continue for 20 more years.
I had someone tell me the other day that Biden has no right to take a victory lap because everything has been accomplished while he has been in office was because of Trump. I did ask them, What were Donalds victories in his 4 years? I was met with silence followed by “he saved this country.”
Let’s go ahead and list what was passed under DJT and Mitch McConnel.
The first thing that the ‘right’ will say is that he got 3 Supreme Court Justices appointed.
True McConnel held up a seat that Obama should have appointed, then between Trump and Mitch they convinced Justice Kennedy to retire then going back on his own rule McConnel let Trump appoint a justice only days before the 2020 election. I feel all those seats were stolen.
Trump and the GOP set about repealing regulations that protect the Environment, National Parks, Civil Rights. In the 2 years they had control of both chambers they did a lot of damage and gave away billions to the ultra-rich.
The GOP and Trump claim victory over things that were already doing phenomenally well under Obama that he had rescued after a disastrous Bush Presidency.
Trump continually took victory laps about the soaring stock market, completely ignoring that fact the 90% of Americans have no money in the stock market.
Biden has pulled us away from an economic crash that has stricken the world not just the U.S., he rolled out a COVID Vaccine that has enabled Americans to get back to work. The Democrats and Biden pass a sweeping infrastructure bill that has actually brought manufacturing back… every week under Trump was infrastructure week but it never happened. What is notable is that every time Biden signed a bill into law that actually helped Americans, he didn’t have to make an event out of it… know why… because it is his FUCKING job and he didn’t require a spectacle for doing it.
Now that Biden is taking some credit for what he has accomplished the GOP and Trump are name calling saying ‘why should he get credit for just doing his job.’ Well truth be told I think Biden, Pelosi, and Schumer should be out there everyday talking about what they have been able to accomplish with unprecedented obstruction. The current GOP controlled House has done nothing but hold sham hearing. Pelosi not only pass 100s of bills but also had a Jan 6 committee that proved beyond a doubt that the 2020 election was attempted to stolen by Trump and his cronies.
Democrats won’t spike the ball because we always feel there in more works to be done…I am not saying that we won’t raise a glass and cheer when Trump is finally convicted for federal crimes.

What’s in the Title?

Everyone today has a title, Mr., Mrs., Miss, Dr., Professor… there a so many it is hard to list them all. Recently we changed calling the members of the House of Representatives from Congressman or Congress Woman to Representative.
When addressing a former President of the United States in a formal setting, the correct form is “Mr. LastName.” (“President LastName” or “Mr. President” are terms reserved for the current head of state.) This is true for other ex-officials, as well. When talking about the person to a third party, on the other hand, it’s appropriate to say, “former President LastName.” This holds true for many other introductions, in polite company you could refer to someone as Judge (insert name here) even if that person is retired or Senator, Governor, Sheriff, you name it.
I suppose the rule is the last title held can be used when denoting a title. I know you are all wonder where I am going with this…
Well since the former guy, not Obama, Bush, or Carter, the most recent former guy has gotten a new title shouldn’t we use that? The title I am referring to is Defendant, i.e., Defendant Mr. Donald John Trump… I really think from now until he is convicted that when referring to the Malignant DJT he should be announced as Defendant or Convicted Sexual Abuser (Rapist). I will be happy to adjust it to Federal Convict or Prisoner # after he has been convicted.
So lets start now by always referring to (45) as the Defendant Mr. Donald John Trump.

Patriot

The one word that is continually used by people that have no idea what the word means or embodies is Patriot.
Having served and having a father that had a career in the military being told by individuals, that did not sign on the dotted line and put their ass where their mouth is, that I do not support this country in outrageous. Pledging allegiance to one man or political party is not Patriotic. Saying that you support the Constitution then rising up against the duly elected government is not Patriotic. Flying a Confederate Flag, Trump Flag, or hanging the Stars and Stripes upside down is not Patriotic… in fact it is insulting to those that served.
The groups that are against our Democracy and the freedoms that our Constitution outlines are Patriot Front (armed insurrectionist), Moms for Liberty (zealous book banning group), The Proud Boys (armed insurrectionist). None of these groups are Patriots they are loyal to one ideal and that is, their way or no way. The current GOP (Trumpublicans) are not Patriots the party of Reagan that I disagree with was not out to dismantle the system of government we have the current crop of ‘Patriots’ want to see it burn to the ground so that an authoritarian government can step in… NO MORE ELECTIONS, NO MORE BODILY FREEDOM FOR WOMEN, NO MORE LGTBQ+, and guess what ‘patriots’ if they get heir way your guns are gone too.
So if you don’t like that way things are VOTE, run for office, do something positive, but stop calling yourself Patriot if your only goal is to subject everyone else to your way or no way.
