We have a common code today that no matter how naughty a child is the child is not to be punished for the breaking of rules or dishes or much of anything else. At one time punishment was a very common thing, a child might get punished at home for wetting their pants and at school for getting into a fight. This would surely lead to more punishment especially if he lost the fight.
So we move on to the events of today and read in the paper that a 16 year old boy in England got in trouble for cutting down a 200 hundred year old tree. This tree was by Hadrian’s Wall in the north of England that was built when the Romans occupied Britain. The tree was not there then, it was a recent arrival, but it had appeared in a movie, so that gave it so sort of importance. At any rate we must wonder why he would cut down this tree? Did he read a book and see that an American boy had cut down a tree and later became President and he thought perhaps if he cut down a tree he could become Prime Minister. Would look good on the resume right?. The other point is that if that sort of thing is all it takes to get elected to the top spot, we should start looking at our politicians a bit more closely to see if they have done something at least as strenuous as cutting down a tree.
The laws that have been put in place to protect children have, like so many other efforts by those that love to stick their noses in others’ business, have gone too far. Yes there are parents that should never have been parents, too bad they couldn’t be made sterol and not have to worry about it. The reason that the laws have gone too far is that the children get to know that they are allowed to get away with whatever and can cause the parents trouble if they so choose. This works just fine until they turn 18 and then the protection is gone and they have never learned to stop because they could always push that little bit further and get away with it.
In the same way that those in our society with lots of money and the ability to make problems for all that get in their way have been allowed to bully, bribe, or buy their way and suffer no harsh consequences. The wealthy see no reason they should pay taxes, and yet they are the first to complain when a road needs repair or a bridge is not passable. Well that is the masses problem to keep these things up you cannot expect us to spend our resources on such things.
So time for a history lesson, don’t you just love it? For all of you that have seen the movie The Shining it was filmed at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park Colorado. Mr. Stanley suffered from tuberculosis and was told the dry mountain air was what he needed to be comfortable. So he came to Colorado and found Estes Park and decided to build a hotel. Problem was that the city did not have a working water system, sewer system, or a reliable electric system. So Mr. Stanley, the builder of the Stanley Steamer Car, put all that in for the city so that he could build his hotel. We could do with a few more Mr. Stanley’s.
What aspects of your cultural heritage are you most proud of or interested in?
The arrogance of British people that somehow they are better, that has been transplanted to the U.S.. The first people to inhabit the British Isles floated across the channel from France because, no idea the real reason but assume it was because they were annoyed, which is a dominant British trait. That arrogance lead this group to rule a lot of the planet.
There seems to be a great deal of difficulty in the human species just getting from child to adult. We go through the period of all being included in whatever game we play, to the games becoming based on are we boys or are we girls and we must not mix. Then we enter the age of if you have a boyfriend or a girl friend you are somehow not quite right and should be corrected for crossing a line you didn’t know was there. Then one day the opposite is true and you are thought to be slow if you do not have a friend of the opposite sex.
It is no wonder that by the time we are in our late teens we are totally confused and just looking for a life line, someone to be close to, hold on to, share with, care for and take care of, and we may not be all that concerned with the gender of that person in reference to our own. Wait, now we have those people that are oh so concerned about what others do and how this looks and do your parents know that and the crap never stops. The truth of the matter is that it is none of their damned business but they are determined to make it their business anyway.
Names get called, labels get put on people and for as long as you are around those people nothing will ever change. Does it make you a bad person because you choose to have as your life partner someone of the same gender as yourself? Of course not, and it should not be viewed that way by any level of society.
The people that seem to be the most upset by these things are people that profess to be the most Christian, or believers in some scripture. Usually they are also strong advocates of a male dominated society with very strict rules. Those rules generally include no education for women, no voting rights for women, no property rights as they are considered property and can be bought, sold, beaten and killed with complete immunity by the men of the society they live in.
There are less stringent male orders such as the Catholic Church. Still the order demands that the women be subservient and follow the directions given by the men of the church. We also know that this does not work in the animal kingdom as usually it is a matriarch that rules the pride or herd. The males are allowed around only during mating season.
Which brings up the point of why female astronauts make more sense than male ones. They can go somewhere and take the necessary material to start a new colony if need be when men can not. Women can take the part of reproduction that a man donates and keep it safe and viable till needed then put it to work and produce another of our species anywhere they happen to be, men are unable to do this at the present time.
For those that are programmed to believe in the male dominated society that kind of thinking must throw them off the rails. It is unthinkable. There are societies on earth that check to see what sex a baby is and if it is female they get rid of it. The reason for this is simple, that society at some point required that a dowry be paid to marry a daughter and if people are very poor they can not afford to raise the daughter and ultimately marry her off. The part of this that seems to escape the attention of all is that it takes daughters to keep the population going, sons are great to build a ball team or an army but they are really poor at having a way to reproduce the ones lost to the wars the others have gone off to fight.
The other main Taboo in the relationship game is the idea of marriage across racial lines. In some places it is dumb as having a spouse that speaks a different language. The mixing of whites with blacks was forbidden in this country for a very long time and yet there was no objection to slave owners getting slave women pregnant. Putting slave girls in houses of ill repute was not a problem, raping black girls was not considered a crime, just could not marry.
The idea that others are not worthy is quite confusing as when wars were waged, be it the Vikings raiding England, the English raiding France, the Utes raiding a neighboring tribe, they all did the same thing, killed the men and took the women home to breed with. Common practice but do not bring that girl home and say you want to marry her because dad will find a reason why you should not.
Billy comes home and says to his father “You know Becky lives over in the next Valley?” Pa says, “Ya” Billy says, “I want to marry her” Pa says” Is she a virgin?” Billy says “Ya” Pa says “ You can’t marry her son cause if she ain’t good enough for her own kin she ain’t good enough for us”. Relationships can have enough rough spots in them without going out of the way looking for crap that does not matter, or having people that need not be sticking their noses into business that is none of theirs.
We have all sorts of people that object to things based on their religious beliefs, that is their belief and it and they deserve no room in a space they are not invited into. If they have a business that may be called upon to serve some function in regards to a practice they object to then let them put that notice where all can see it as it may in fact impact how much business they get period.
Just turn the situation around and have someone that is planning a big event and they have approached a business that is oh so willing and oh so happy to have the business and then the event planner walks in and gives some off the wall reason about the business that just makes it impossible to complete the deal Now is there going to be a legal battle and news coverage and the infraction committed by the business published in the paper?
If 2 people of the same gender decide that their lives are to be lived together and they get a power of attorney to take care of one another as they age or they get a marriage license because the license makes them next of kin and the power does not and they would not be able to get in the hospital to see each other on the power. Even if the relationship they have is not sexual in nature the license gives the impression that it is and people condemn because people are people and most do not think.
In many places women are admired, put on a pedestal, even worshiped. In other places on earth they are kept wrapped in garments that hide not only their form but their identity. They are much easier to ignore, discredit and brutalize if they have no identity. Strangely ever the Arabs honor Mary the mother of Jesus all others seem to be fair game in the punching bag derby. The idea that a man would get on a gus and shoot a girl that was on her way home from school because she had gone to school and should not have was the reason to shoot her. This was not a crime by the standard in that country, the shooting was not a crime, going to school was.
Here in the states we have gotten so turned around on laws that a pregnant woman that got shot and lost her baby because of being shot got sent to jail because of the crime against the fetus. We have put some of the least qualified people into office, have voted in some of the dumbest laws on record and allowed traitors to walk around and even run for public office when they should be at a minimum in jail for the rest of their sorry assed lives.
As for all the get so upset about the RainBow Coalition people need to have others in their lives and sometimes the others they are most comfortable with come with the same piping as they have, get over it. This has been around for as long as anyone can remember and will continue to be a part of the human condition long into the future. Having an opinion about something is normal, trying to make your opinion the rule everyone lives by is impossible. As has been stated before if it is not your cup of tea leave it alone, don’t go where you are not welcome or comfortable be that a bar, a bible study or a brothel all of interest to someone and in some cases everyone but if it is not for you don’t go.
The state or condition of not being in agreement, accordance, or harmony.
This is another Bumper Sticker rant.
Saw 2 stickers on the same vehicle and I am sure that they were absolutely in accordance with the owners’ views but the sentiment I feel is an incongruent train of thought.
One sticker [ I am Pro-Life prove me wrong]
The other [I am Pro-Gun prove me wrong]
I don’t know how these are related states of thought. I honestly wanted to ask this person if they could produce and obituary for a child that was killed by an abortion.
In Genesis, chapter one, God answers that question himself. He forms a figure from the Earth, but it does not become Adam (“man” in Hebrew) until God “breathes into him the breath of life, and he became man.” Clearly, life begins when you draw your first breath. That is when God places your soul in your body.
This person also had a [Pro -Life-God-Guns] sticker.
Going back to the query I would have like to pose to them about the child that an abortion killed, I can list 10 of thousands that a gun killed, actual walking talking children that had their light snuff out because of a gun.
So, how are you Pro-Life when you support the very object that currently in the U.S. kill more children than auto accidents? How do the Pro-Gun crowd feel that they hold some moral high ground over a woman who chooses to end a pregnancy when they can only offer thoughts and prayers when an event like Sandy Hook, Uvalde, Margie Stone Douglas, or any number of school shooting happen.
Someone please explain to me how someone’s ‘Right’ to own a gun supersedes a woman right to choose. That logic tells a woman that you don’t have the right to make a decision about having a child but if that child is killed by an asshole with a gun, well they have the right to that gun, sorry for your loss.
Add this to the pile of craps that get under my skin.
I have owned every mackintosh Apple product from that iPod shuffle to every iPhone iteration up to the 15 I have a MacBook MacBook Pro. I have a Macintosh on my desktop. Unfortunately, apple is the only brand that I can stay loyal to for decades.
